What you need to know about Influencer Whitelisting...

Welcome to the Trust Pact where I’m sharing all the deets to help you legally protect your brand. I want you to make and KEEP these coins. There are lots of legal tools in place, and I’m here to help you understand them.

Today, I’ll be continuing this mini-series of terminology that you need to know when working with brands as an influencer or content creator.

Deals and contracts come with alot of legal jargon and it's important that you understand everything, before you sign ANYTHING!

Influencer whitelisting is the process of creators and influencers giving a brand access to their account for advertising purposes. The brand can then access the ads platform and “boost” or “optimize” the content. This helps the brand get more eyes on their content, by ensuring that their targeted audience sees it.

But, it often goes far beyond one post & one time.

Brands can begin to run full blown ad campaigns from the influencer’s ad platform. These are called “dark posts."

These are the posts that LOOK like regular posts, but have the banner at the bottom that says ad that you see as you’re scrolling on Facebook and Instagram. Brands can make edits to your captions, or create their own as they run these ad campaigns.

What you (as the influencer) should know is that nothing is done without intention in the marketing world. Brands do collaborations and partnerships because influencer marketing is still quickly growing and evolving. Folks go to social media and search for product reviews faster than google sometimes! Some purchases are made without ever seeing the company's website.

Takeaway this one thing– BRANDS need INFLUENCERS just like you NEED your coins!

If you are approached by a brand that is requesting usage rights with advertising access, then you need to be sure that the terms are CLEARLY written in a contract and that you are getting compensated. This brand has determined that you are the connection to their target consumers.. And that means that you ARE the bag!
